East coast artist Jessica C. Barros began her professional illustrating career as a sophomore in a New York City college. However, taking the position as a full-time art student in a highly competitive arena, brought about certain challenges to exposing and branding her works. Consequently, to rise above her competition, Jessica began an Instagram account at www.instagram.com/jessicacbarrosillustrations. Today, that account is her digital portfolio, and the exposure amounts to tens of thousands of followers.
Jessica’s Instagram portfolio includes such unique works commissioned for best-selling poet J. Raymond, and an Australian writer named Chloe Frayne. Influenced by those publications, Jessica self-published an art book titled “The Madness Within,” which was released in April 2015. Because of Jessica’s unique style and her many achievements, non-profit organizations and individuals alike reach out to Jessica for donated and commissioned works.
Continuing to strive forward, and at the young age of 22, Jessica’s first sponsored art show debuted in the Northern part of New Jersey. Now, several years later, and a wealth of experience in her toolbox, Jessica has established her personal brand Jessica C. Barros Illustrations, secured her position on Etsy at www.jessicacbarrosart.com, and has currently sold over 60 creative works worldwide.
Critics classify Jessica’s work as magical realism, a genre where unreal elements play a natural part in a realistic environment, thus crafting an image of dream-like or mystic proportion. This artistic theory is performed with charcoal, pencil, ink, and airbrushing techniques which she has perfected with hours of dedicated work to her craft. Thirty West is proud to team up with Barros as she now focuses on her homegrown audience in the Greater Philadelphia region.
